Base Fit was created by father-and-daughter team Shane and Connie with one simple aim: to give women a more supportive, personal way to get stronger, fitter and more confident.
Shane brings a background in the armed forces, where structure, discipline and physical training were part of everyday life. After leaving the military, he qualified as a personal trainer and has continued to build his experience coaching and supporting people to improve their fitness, strength and confidence.
Connie has been involved in movement and performance from an early age, starting freestyle dance at just four years old before going on to graduate from CAPA College. Her experience in dance, training and performance developed into a passion for fitness and coaching, making Base Fit a natural next step alongside her dad.
Together, they wanted to create the kind of gym many women told them they were struggling to find.
Not a busy gym where you’re left to work things out for yourself. Not an intimidating environment where you feel as though everyone else knows what they’re doing.
Instead, Base Fit is a ladies-only small-group personal training gym in Wakefield, with sessions limited to a maximum of eight women.
Every session is coached. Members are taught how to train properly, supported as they progress and encouraged to build strength and fitness at a level that’s right for them.
The result is a gym that feels personal, professional and welcoming — whether you’ve been training for years or haven’t exercised properly in a long time.
For Shane and Connie, Base Fit isn’t about simply getting women through a workout. It’s about helping them become stronger, more capable and more confident, while giving them the coaching and accountability to keep going.
